THE LEGALIZATION

 

Legalization is an act in the exercise of the public faith by means of which an official designated for that purpose, certifies that the signature of another official, notary public or authorized institutions, have similarity with the signature that is in the consular register.

 

Legalization applies to:

 

Any foreign document that has to have legal effect in the territory of the Republic of Paraguay.

Requirements

  • Present the document with the authorized signature, in accordance with the register of signatures in the consulate, and fulfills the internal requirements of the country where the consular office is located.

THE APOSTILLE

The Apostille is the certification by which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - of the Republic of Paraguay - legalizes the authenticity of the signature and the title with which the signatory public official has acted, thus certifying the origin of a public document, which will have validity In the country where it will be presented.

The Apostille applies only to public documents from authorities or officials linked to a jurisdiction of the State from which such documents are originate, including those from an administrative, constitutional or ecclesiastical court, from the public ministry,  secretary or an official of the judicial office; Administrative documents; Notarial documents, Official certifications that have been applied on private documents and Authentication of signatures.

 

The purpose of the Apostille Convention is to facilitate the circulation of public documents issued in a State Party of the Convention and must be submitted in another State Party of the Convention, therefore does not require any consularisation by the foreign Diplomatic or Consular Representation accredited in the country.

 

The Convention does not apply to documents issued by diplomatic or consular agents or to administrative documents which directly relate to a commercial or customs operation (such as certificates of origin, commercial invoices, manifests, etc.).

  • General power of attorney - $ 115.00

  • Special power of attorney - $ 95.00
