Culture
The culture of Paraguay dates back to the extensive marriage of Spanish men and indigenous Guarani women. The Paraguayan culture is a fusion of two cultures and traditions: one being European, the other being the Guarani of the South. More than 63% of the Paraguayans are mestizos, the rest Creoles, this makes Paraguay one of the most homogenous countries in Latin America.
A characteristic of this cultural fusion is extensive bilingualism to this day: more than 80% of Paraguayans speak the Spanish language and the Guaraní language. Jopara, the blend of Guaraní and Spanish, is also widely spoken.
